If your libido is feeling a bit sluggish lately, keep on reading because you’re about to discover a magical (and scientifically proven!) libido boosting hot chocolate. But the best part? It doesn’t only improve your sexual desire, but also has loads of other health benefits, is easy to make and it tastes insanely delicious!
There are many factors that work against our sexual energy – excess stress, lack of sleep, eating lots of processed food and using medication. The good news is that almost all of these factors are in your control. But in the busy times like these, it can sometimes be challenging to balance everything out.
So what about some extra libido boost? Here comes the magical maca root! First, I have to say that maca isn’t some mambo-jumbo alternative medicine that no one really knows anything about (except for a few shady internet sites). Maca has been scientifically tested (& personally tested :)) and shown to improve the sexual desire.
You may not have heard about maca yet, as it’s relatively new plant in the commercial world. Maca is a Peruvian plant that grows in extremely harsh conditions in which other plants are not able to survive. Because of its powerful benefits, maca root has been used by the local Peruvians for thousands of years. You can buy maca powder in the most health food store or online.
Increased libido is not the only positive effect that maca root has. As maca is an adaptogen, it helps to improve your overall body’s health, balances hormones and reduces stress. It’s also rich in iron, vitamin C, copper, and potassium, and boosts your memory, energy levels, and fertility.
Maca has an earthy and sweet flavor and it’s great in hot drinks and smoothies. For this libido boosting vegan hot chocolate, I found a wonderful combination of spices and sweeteners that are all health-boosting and delicious. I’ve tried several sweeteners and date syrup (which is basically just dates + water) is simply the best one! It adds a rich caramel flavor to the hot chocolate.

Libido Boosting Vegan Hot Chocolate (aka Macaccino)
- 1 cup rice milk (or any other plant milk)
- 1 tbsp. raw cacao powder
- 1 tbsp. date syrup* (or use 1 – 2 tsp. for a less sweet version)
- 1 tsp. maca root powder
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- a healthy pinch of nutmeg
- a healthy pinch of Himalayan salt (or regular salt)
- If you have a milk frother like I do, put all the ingredients into the frother and froth until well mixed. Alternatively, mix the ingredients in a saucepan and heat up (but don’t boil it!).
- Adjust the sweetness to your like and serve immediately.
*You can use any other liquid sweetener like maple syrup or agave. But if you can find date syrup, I highly recommend using it as it will add a rich caramel layer and creaminess to the macaccino. 🙂
